8/2 Stop-Motion Animation Documentation

I began by thinking about the sound capture element of Vine, and how strange it sounds when voices are clipped and disjointed with rapid picture-taking. I knew I was also very tired and unfocused. Sound can be so disruptive if you are in the right state of mind, so I tried to capture my frustration humorously with a few simple drawings.

I fell victim to a few setup troubles- like my shadow falling into the frame, and the camera struggling to focus.

The trouble, or perhaps the benefit, of Vine, is that you can't really set up your scene with your phone- you are always moving and your images are always moving.  However, I like what happened when I got closer to the paper and the image "grew."  I'd like to play around with this trick more- it was a quick hack that proved effective.  Still, I would prefer iStopMotion and a stable set for this method of drawing-on-paper animation.

  1. I think the advantage of iStopMotion in this case would be greater control. -- Having said that: what about mounting the smartphone on a tripod? That could help, too, right?
