4/1 Part 2: Pursued Photography Idea

I sought feedback from a good friend and artist on this project.  He pointed out that I gravitated towards the first idea with more fervor- it seemed as though I was more interested and had more details fleshed out in the idea.  He liked the notion of storytelling as a device and motivation as well.  We came to the conclusion that this would be more meaningful and relevant to my classroom teaching style, where I attempt to connect literacy with creative critical thinking.

The result is a “linear story” about train of thought.  I have noticed recently that I get pretty scatterbrained when I have lots to do.  The visual line in this image represents a single thought and its path through my mind.  As it navigates distraction, it stops and starts again, spreads and repeats, takes detours, and threatens to break in a million different directions.  The original image is revealed first, but has overlays that blur recognition- it is the beginning of the thought.  The line also ends in blur, with no clear conclusion.  I took all images used and seamed them together using Photoshop.

  1. These works look like a story. I feel like it is about the different weather and combine with photography is a good idea, makes it looks like something different. I think you can base on this concept to build up more; it will be great to put all those works together.

  2. I really loved the unconventional dimension of this collage. Going from top to down made me construct a loose narrative in my mind while wondering what was it that inspired you to do it in the first place. Certain elements seem more realistic in style than others. I wonder if applying some simple filter effects such as Blurring and Transparency will help them blend into the narrative even better.

  3. This was a rather great outcome! The image became one large story and the flow from one part of the map to the next was inspiring.
